Teenage Drug Mule Wanting Extra Money for Songkran Partying Arrested in Chachoengsao

A 19-year-old Thai man was arrested for drug trafficking in Chachoengsao province. The man claimed he needed to do it to find money for Songkran parties.

A young alleged drug mule whose name was withheld by the authorities was nabbed at a gas station on Bang Pakong – Chachoengsao Road in the Nong Chok sub-district, Bang Pakong district, Chachoengsao province yesterday, April 11th.

Pol. Col. Cherdsak Rodkhem, who led the arrest, said the 19-year-old man was arrested with over 700,000 speed pills separated into 350 bundles.

The arrest was a follow-up operation after police previously arrested multiple drug traffickers in the Bangkok area. The group used the same blue Honda Civic sedan to transport the illicit drugs. The authorities had observed the group’s behavior for awhile until they found the car parked in front of a petrol station on April 11th, leading to the arrest of the latest suspect with the vehicle.

The young suspect reportedly confessed that it was his second time trafficking illegal drugs. He alleged he was ordered by a superior to pick up the drugs and leave them at various locations, and this time he was ordered to drop them off in an isolated alley in the Bang Pakong area.

The man was paid 20,000 to 30,000 baht per delivery. He said he had to traffic drugs to find money for Songkran parties.The suspect was charged with possession of Type 1 (methamphetamine) drugs with an intention to sell. He was then taken into custody along with the seized evidence and handed over to the Bang Pakong Police Station to proceed with legal proceedings.
