Thailand –

More Chinese tour groups are expected to visit Thailand for upcoming long holidays over labor day weekend, which falls on this upcoming weekend with actual labor day on May First.

Yuthasak Supasorn, the governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) stated to Thai media “From January to March this year there were 6,518,578 foreign visitors which generated 334.7 million baht. Tourism has improved 60% when compared year over year, although early 2022 still saw some travel restrictions.”

“At the end of this month and the beginning of next month will be Chinese labor day holidays from April 30th to May 4th. More Chinese tourists are expected to visit Thailand,” Mr. Yuthasak added.

Pipat Ratchakitprakarn, Thailand’s Minister of Tourism and Sports added “The top Chinese tourism platform ‘Ctrip’ states that more than 150,000 Chinese nationals visited Thailand in February. From April to June tourism is expected to improve 80 percent when compared with four years ago.”

“More tourists from Asia and Northeast Asia are coming to Thailand. In addition, Asian tourists are following social media influencers who are also visiting Thailand. Meanwhile, the number of European and American tourists are decreasing due to the end of high-season tourism in those countries,” Pipat explained.
