Bangkok —

Downpouring morning rain flooded many areas in Bangkok today, April 30th.

According to the Department of Drainage and Sewerage, moderate to heavy rain occurred in many districts in Bangkok, such as Huai Khwang, Din Daeng, Chatuchak, Bang Sue, Dusit, Ratchathewi, Phaya Thai, Bang Phlat, Phra Nakhon, Pom Prap Sattru Phai, Watthana, Khlong Toei, Khlong San, Yannawa, and Bang Rak.

The highest rain level of 55.0 millimeters was in the Bangna district.

At 10:27 AM, parts of Vibhavadi Road and Tiwanon Road inbound to Muang Thong Thani were flooded, creating heavy congestion.

The right lane of Megabangna U-Turn bridge was also inundated as well as Srinakarin Road.

Sporadic thunderstorms and rain showers continue as of press time including in the Pattaya area, home of The Pattaya News. There were no immediate reports of flooding or damage in Pattaya, however.

Not all is bad news, however, as the rain has helped clear up air pollution and lowered boiling hot temperatures across the affected areas.
