UPDATE: One Russian Tourist Still Missing in Phuket Sea After Selfie Disaster

Three Russian tourists have been rescued while another is still missing after one of them was hit by a wave and washed out into the sea while taking selfies at the Prom Thep Cape in Rawai.

Emergency responders were notified of the incident on Friday (May 12th) at the end of the Prom Thep Cape. They and the Phuket Express arrived at the scene to find three foreign tourists floating in the sea. They were quickly rescued from the water.

Now for the update:

The Rawai Mayor Aroon Solos told the Phuket Express that a search center had been set up on Friday (May 12th) near the Prom Thep Cape. The four male Russian tourists were identified by the Phuket Tourist Police as

1.Mr. Iurii Smoian (Missing)

2.Mr. Lev Malakhov (injured)

3.Mr. Nikita Siasegov

4.Mr. Konstantin Akhmetzianov

Their age ranges from 32 -35 years old. The search continued this morning (May 13th).

According to Aroon, the four men had been conducting selfies for their social media profiles on the Rawai Beach when a sudden wave hit the distracted group from behind, knocking them down and out into the sea. Three of the men were rescued while Mr. Smoian remained missing.
