Pattaya —

The Pattaya court has issued an arrest warrant for a prime suspect believed to have brutally murdered a Thai woman in a rented room in Pattaya on Saturday, May 20th.

First our previous story:

Pattaya Police are intensely interrogating an unidentified man believed to be involved in the gruesome murder of a Pattaya woman.

Now for our update:

The prime suspect has been identified by Pattaya Police as 39-year-old Mr. Watcharaphon “Kik” Ansongkram, a Thai citizen. He was accused of physically assaulting 32-year-old Ms. Rattana Thammarak to her death inside her rented residence on Soi Chaloemphrakiat 19 in the Banglamung district of Chonburi province last weekend.

The police said Watcharaphon was likely in a relationship with the victim. Although details about him were still limited, he was reportedly the last person spotted with her in her room prior to the discovery of her body on May 20th, police said.

According to an autopsy of the deceased, Ms. Rattana was stabbed once behind her right ear, once on the left side of her neck, five times in her face, three times on her left shoulder, and once on her left hand. Her body was already decaying when it was discovered.

Yesterday May 21st, her mother Mrs. Samran Thammarak, 59, and relatives travelled to the victim’s room to perform a religious ritual to bring the spirit of the deceased home. Mrs. Samran gave an interview with The Pattaya News stating that her daughter began to exhibit abnormal behavior after she began working at an unnamed bar in Pattaya.

Rattana would often ask her mother to transfer money, claiming that she had injuries on her face and couldn’t work because she was being harassed. During the phone calls, her mother also often heard Thai male voices with her daughter.

Regarding her daughter’s male companion Kik, Mrs. Samran revealed that she had never met him in person but was aware that her daughter really loved him. Furthermore, she sadly admitted that she was well aware of her daughter’s drug addiction, though she had tried unsuccessfully multiple times to talk her out of it.

Pattaya Police said the suspect’s motive might stem from personal relationships or drugs. He is currently on the run with Pattaya police working on tracking him down.
