Thai Meteorological Department Warns of Thunderstorms and Intense Heat Across Thailand

The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) has warned of thunderstorms and heat across multiple regions.

The TMD has forecasted in their daily weather report on Wednesday (May 24th) that western and southwest winds are covering the Andaman Sea in the southern parts of Thailand and in the Gulf of Thailand.

Thunderstorms and strong winds are taking place in some areas in the north, northeastern and eastern parts of Thailand. However, hot weather is still intense in the day time. Waves in the Andaman Sea are predicted to be up to two meters high and more than two meters in thunderstorm areas. Boats in the Andaman Sea should proceed with more caution.

Northern

Late May brings possible rain, a chance of about 40 percent with strong winds and high temperatures in the day time.

Minimum temperature 23-27 °C.

Maximum temperature 36-39 °C.

Southwest winds 10- 20 km/hr.

North Eastern

Possible rain, a chance of about 60 percent with strong winds and intense heat in the day time.

Minimum temperature 23-26 °C.

Maximum temperature 33-37 °C.

Southwest winds 10- 20 km/hr.

Central

Possible rain, a chance of about 40 percent with strong winds and sweltering heat in the day time.

Minimum temperature 24-26 °C.

Maximum temperature 36-38 °C.

Southwest winds 10- 20 km/hr.

Eastern

Possible rain, a chance of about 70 percent with strong winds in Nakhon Nayok, Prachinburi, Sa Kaeo, Chachoengsao, and Chonburi, home of Pattaya.

Minimum temperature 25-28 °C.

Maximum temperature 31-38 °C.

Southwest winds 15- 30 km/hr.

Waves are more than two meters in thunderstorm areas.

Southern (East Coast)

Possible rain, a chance of about 30 percent with strong winds and heat in the daytime

Minimum temperature 24-27 °C.

Maximum temperature 35-37 °C.

Southwest winds 15- 30 km/hr.

Waves are more than two meters in thunderstorm areas.

Southern (West Coast)

Possible rain, a chance of about 60 percent in Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang, and Satun

Minimum temperature 24-27 °C.

Maximum temperature 32-34 °C.

Southwest winds 15- 35 km/hr.

Waves are more than two meters in thunderstorm areas.

Bangkok Metropolitan

Possible rain, a chance of about 40 percent and intense heat in the day time.

Minimum temperature 25-29 °C.

Maximum temperature 34-38 °C.

Southwest winds 10- 20 km/hr.
