Russian Motorbike Rider Fined 5,000 Baht After Being Caught Doing Wheelies in Phuket

Rawai –

A Russian motorbike rider was fined 5,000 baht after he was caught on camera while doing wheelies on a road in Rawai, Phuket.

The Phuket Provincial Police told the Phuket Express about the incident on Saturday (May 27th). Photos of a foreign rider who was doing wheelies on Sai Yaun Road had gone viral on Thai social media earlier this week and enraged Thai nationals who demanded the rider be found and arrested.

The Chalong Police continued their investigation and have identified the rider as Mr. Anatolii Shatalov, 26, a Russian national. On May 25th, the Russian rider presented himself to the Chalong Police and admitted that he was the person in the photos.

Anatolii is facing charges of reckless driving causing a public nuisance, and driving without a driving license. The Russian rider has admitted to the charges but did not clarify why he was breaking the road and traffic laws.

On Friday (May 26th) the Phuket Kwaeng Court judged the case and Anatolii was fined 5,000 Baht.
