South Korean Man Arrested for Alleged Illegal Drug Involvement in Sattahip

A wanted South Korean suspect was arrested in Sattahip for allegedly being involved in major illegal drugs.

Immigration Deputy Commander Major General Pantana Nuchanart told the press on Wednesday (May 31st) that a man identified only as MR. KIM, 26, a South Korean national, was a wanted suspect in his own country.

He allegedly was involved in major illegal drug networks from June of 2022 to March of this year, 2023, connected with Seoul, South Korea, especially in famous entertainment venues in Gangnam and Itaewon. In total, 70 suspects were previously arrested for allegedly being part of this network and involved with illegal drugs and cash seized worth more than 19.15 million won or about 17 million Thai baht.

An Interpol Red Notice had been issued for Mr. Kim who had entered Thailand via a tourist visa in July of last year, 2022.

Mr. Kim was recently arrested at a housing estate in Na Jomtien, Sattahip. Police found that Mr. Kim had allegedly transported drugs from Thailand to South Korea as well.

He remains in custody as of press time and had not released a statement to the press.
