Exclusive luxury parties only for Chinese nationals were raided at karaoke rooms in Bangkok and 48 Chinese people and illegal drugs were found.
The raid took place at 3:00 A.M. on Friday (June 2nd) at a massage parlor in Bang Kapi, Huai Khwang. The raid was led by officers from the Children and Women’s Protection Sub-Division and Narcotics Control officers following tips from informants.
Colonel Teerasak Chatara Pipat told TPN media that in total 48 Chinese people, 18 women and 30 men, were found inside four karaoke rooms. They were found using illegal drugs such as Cocaine and Ecstasy. Many of them tested positive for illegal drugs although the exact number of people involved was not released.
The Karaoke rooms were serviced from 10:00 P.M. until morning. Only Chinese people were allowed at the exclusive party and the charge was 100,000 Baht per room for six hours, according to Colonel Teerasak. Other nationalities, including Thais, were strictly forbidden from entering the venue.
The karaoke venue was being serviced similarly to the Jin Ling night club which was raided last year, said Colonel Teerasak. Police are continuing their investigation to see if the Chinese people at the venue entered the country legally or not and who was responsible for the ownership of the venue.
Those netted for illegal drug usage will face additional charges, said Bangkok police.
