A male Thai suspect is accused of driving a stolen taxi and colliding with a lorry on the Mittraphap highway road before being arrested by Thai highway police officers.
On October 11th, 2023, Thai highway police officers captured an alleged suspect later identified only as Mr Athitthan, 49-years-old, on the Mittraphap highway road in Muak Lek, Saraburi.
The day of the incident, Thai highway police officers had received a theft incident report about a suspect stealing a taxicab in the Pathum Thani area before fleeing onto the Phahonyothin Road-Mittraphap Road. So, they dispatched forces to intercept the alleged suspect’s vehicle.
After receiving phone tips from other drivers and witnesses, the highway police squad detected the suspect vehicle and then tailed them and signaled to stop the engine. However, the alleged suspect drove the taxi away at high speed before ultimately colliding with the rear of a lorry on the Mittraphap highway road.
During a subsequent interrogation, Mr. Athitthan reportedly admitted to his crimes before being escorted to the Khu Khot Police Station for further legal proceedings.
It was unclear why Athitthan had originally stolen the taxi or where he was planning to travel to.
