Thai Minister of Energy Proposes to Reduce Some Gasoline Prices

On October 17th, 2023, Mr. Akaradej Wongpitakroj, the spokesman of the United Thai Nations party, publicly stated after a political party meeting about reducing the price of gasoline and gasohol 91 by 2.50 baht per liter.

Akaradej told Thai media that Mr. Peeraphan Salirathaviphak, the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Energy, gave guidance to a team to research reducing the price of gasoline and gasohol 91 which a large number of Thai people with low income used.

However, the Ministry of Energy officials would have to discuss the reduction rate for all target groups by 2.50 baht per liter. After two weeks of consideration, the feedback would be presented to the Minister of Energy for further proceedings.
“As for a particular group, such as fishermen, on gas price reduction, the Minister of Energy would further announce a new policy in the future,” said Akaradej.
