National—

At 10:30 AM, on October 21st, 2023, Mr. Srettha Thavisin, the Thai Prime Minister, publicly revealed a meeting with the Thai Ambassador in Saudi Arabia. The discussions were focused on agriculture, commerce, and investment aspects.

Thailand wished to strengthen diplomatic relations with Saudi Arabia and increase international trade and investment even more.

Srettha acknowledged the importance of promoting investment in Thai mega projects such as electric train projects and the proposed “Thai Land Bridge” in which every business sector must be on the same page.

However, within the bounds of possibility, the Thai Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives together with the private sector would like to hold a future discussion regarding agriculture and livestock with Saudi Arabia’s private sectors: SALIC and SABIC. In response to the request from Thailand, SALIC and SABIC happily welcomed the invitation and gladly supported the international cooperation.

The exact date for the discussions is not yet final.

SABIC is one of the largest agricultural chemical producers in the world in which the Thai private business sector gives regular patronage.

Srettha also commented on the great support from Saudi Arabia’s private business sector and sought to further bond a close relationship with them.
