UPDATE: One Suspect in South Korean Ransom-Murder Case in Pattaya Arrested in Home Country

South Korean police have arrested one of the suspects in their home country in connection with the brutal kidnapping and murder of a South Korean man whose body was found dumped in a Pattaya reservoir.

Thai police found the body of a missing South Korean man in a plastic barrel filled with cement in a reservoir in Pattaya, following an investigation into a kidnapping and ransom case.

Now for our update:

The arrest was made on Sunday, May 12th, following the discovery of the victim’s body, Mr. Eui Jong Roh, on May 11th. The victim’s body was found stuffed in a concrete-filled plastic barrel dumped in the Mapprachan Reservoir in Pattaya.

South Korean authorities captured one suspect, identified as Mr. Lee Roun, at his house in Gyeongnam province, southeastern South Korea. The suspect is in his 20s and is one of three suspects who allegedly abducted the victim in Bangkok, said South Korean Police. Lee has not yet released a public statement or plea in the case.

According to police sources, all three suspects had fled Thailand. Mr. Lee returned to his home country while another had crossed illegally into Myanmar and the third into Cambodia.

Police are continuing their investigation and working with international law enforcement partners. It was also reported that the victim’s fingers had been cut off by the suspects.
