Bangkok—
On May 21st, 2024, Mr. Ratchaphon Sirisakorn, a lawyer representing a 14-year-old boy who was previously allegedly assaulted by the director of Mongkutwattana Hospital Rienthong Nanna, posted on social media regarding a pack of suspicious white powder that was found on the boy.
He reportedly admitted that he responded to the 14-year-old boy who violated the hospital’s rule by slapping him in the face, confiscating his phone, and ordering him to strip naked before kicking him out of the hospital. He has also continually stood by and defended his actions despite controversy over them online.
Furthermore, the hospital staff members searched the boy’s belongings and found a pack containing suspicious powder, according to Dr. Rienthong.
According to Ratchaphon, the 14-year-old boy and his mother reportedly admitted to the police that the white powder was indeed 0.032 grams of heroin. The police conducted drug tests on the white powder and the boy and found that it was positive.
The police pressed related charges on the boy and took him into rehabilitation processing, said Ratchaphon.
In response to the confession and police investigation results, Dr. Rienthong posted on social media defending himself that the 14-year-old boy not only violated the hospital rule by smoking in the hospital but also possessing an illicit substance.
The forensic police confirmed the test result on the white powder as heroin. Had he not slapped and forced him to strip naked, would society know that the boy possessed the illicit substance? He would also take strict legal action against the mother of the 14-year-old boy, remarked Dr. Rienthong.
It was not immediately clear, however, what that legal action would be.
