PRESS RELEASE:
Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin has unveiled a nationwide campaign to make every city a “Must-Visit” destination. Through the “IGNITE TOURISM THAILAND” policy, the strategy is designed to transform Thailand into a leading global tourism hub with improved infrastructure, transportation, and logistics.
To ensure that the benefits of tourism are spread uniformly across the nation, the government has introduced plans to establish interconnected tourism routes linking major cities with nearby towns.
Among these are the Lanna Culture Route that connects Chiang Mai with Lamphun and Lampang; the UNESCO Heritage Trail linking historical sites such as Sukhothai to Kamphaeng Phet; the NAGA Legacy Route through northeastern provinces; the Paradise Islands route in the southern Andaman islands; and The Wonder of Deep South route showcasing the unique culture of Thailand’s southernmost provinces.
These initiatives are framed within the “5 Must Do in Thailand” concept, which encourages tourists to experience Thai culture through local cuisine, cultural sites, hidden attractions, local handicrafts, and various sports activities.
During his visit to Chiang Mai province today (June 8th), Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin expressed confidence in the strategy’s ability to effectively boost tourist numbers, citing each city’s role as a gateway to unique cultural, historical, and natural attractions.
