On June 26th, 2024, Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin presided over the Phenix project, aiming to position Thailand as the world’s food wholesale hub, with additional participation from other prominent political figures.
Srettha stated that the Phenix project aims to bring together global food industry professionals to exchange knowledge and create food innovations, potentially boosting Thailand’s trade opportunities in both domestic and international markets.
He emphasized that the Phenix project will promote Thai cuisine globally, with support from both public and private sectors. Asset World Corporation (AWC), Thailand’s leading real estate group, also supports this initiative, enhancing Thailand’s tourism and food industry as the World’s Food Wholesale Hub and International Pavilion, said Srettha.
Additionally, the Phenix project will establish food lounges featuring famous food stores, offering exceptional culinary experiences for Thai and international tourists as part of Thailand’s soft power strategy.
The Thai government previously introduced the new “5 Must Do in Thailand” strategy, which includes:
- Must Eat: Enjoying regional foods
- Must See: Experiencing Thai local traditions
- Must Seek: Exploring unseen locations in Thailand
- Must Buy: Purchasing local products
- Must Beat: Engaging in challenging sports
These activities are available year-round across the country’s five regions.
