Six Foreigners Found Dead at Bangkok Luxury Hotel

Bangkok –

Four Vietnamese nationals and two Americans of Vietnamese descent have been found dead at a luxury hotel in Lumphini, Bangkok on Tuesday night (July 16th).

The Metropolitan Police Bureau, led by Pol Lt. Gen. Thiti Saengsawang, told the press of the incident. The Lumphini Police were notified of the incident at 5:30 P.M.. A house keeper was going to enter a luxury suite on the fifth floor after the scheduled checkout time of the victims to clean up but found that the room was locked from inside. The hotel manager was informed before the room was unlocked from a rear door.

The housekeeper, who was not identified, discovered the bodies and immediately called the police.

Police found bodies of three men and three women. There were no signs of a struggle or fight at the scene and cups with tea and coffee were found in the room, with no sign of alcohol or drugs. However, Thai Forensic Police found some suspect unknown chemicals in those drinks which were being tested as of press time to determine exactly what they were.

The six foreigners were identified as

  1. 56, American national
  2. 55, American national
  3. 47, Vietnamese national
  4. 49, Vietnamese national
  5. 37, Vietnamese national
  6. 46, Vietnamese national

The names of the victims were withheld pending notification of their families. The hotel name was withheld due to the ongoing investigation.

Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin personally rushed to the scene around 9 PM stating the incident was extremely harmful to tourism and that he wanted a full briefing.

A possible seventh person with the group was missing, some Thai media reported, as well as stating that a tour guide responsible for showing the group Thailand was being questioned.

The current cause of death is still unknown with some Thai forensic police speculating poisoning, although the intent was a major question as of press time.
