On July 24th, 2024, the Thai Meteorological Department issued a 24-hour weather forecast.
A moderate southwest monsoon is covering the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand, resulting in heavy rainfall in parts of the northeastern region. Some areas in the eastern region are expected to experience very heavy rain.
Residents in these areas are advised to be cautious of heavy and accumulated rainfall, which could lead to flash floods and forest runoff, especially in foothill areas near waterways and low-lying regions.
In the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand, moderate waves are expected. The upper Andaman Sea will see waves about 2 meters high, while the lower Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf of Thailand will have waves ranging from 1 to 2 meters. In areas with thunderstorms, waves may exceed 2 meters.
Mariners in these areas should exercise caution and avoid sailing in stormy regions.
Additionally, the Tropical Depression “Prapiroon” (the name of the Thai rain god) over northern Vietnam has weakened into a strong low-pressure cell. However, it will not directly affect weather conditions in Thailand.
