The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) predicts that Thailand’s two long holiday periods in July 2024 will generate over 18 billion baht in tourism revenue.
Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor, revealed that the holidays, including the recent Buddhist Lent (July 20th-22nd) and His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn’s birthday (July 27th-29th), are expected to generate significant travel activity, especially among domestic tourists.
According to TAT, these holidays will result in over 5 million domestic trips, generating approximately 18.36 billion baht in tourism revenue. Thailand’s Central region is expected to have the highest number of visitors, with around 1,174,060 trips, followed by Bangkok with 947,810 trips, and the Northeast with 931,950 trips.
In terms of revenue, Bangkok is projected to receive 4.781 billion baht, followed by the Eastern region with 4.061 billion baht, and the Southern region with 3.017 billion baht.
Meanwhile, TAT reported that Chonburi, the home of Pattaya, is still considered the most popular travel destination during the mentioned holiday periods, with the highest average hotel occupancy rate of over 86%.
Ms. Thapanee said this number is driven by the province’s proximity to Bangkok and its diverse attractions. The province also benefits from events such as the recent “Pattaya Marathon 2024” and the ongoing “VIJITR Chonburi: The Magic of Underwater World” light and sound extravaganza.
