Online Fraud Reports Reach 3.47 Billion Baht in July

In July 2024, there were 34,989 online fraud reports filed through thaipoliceonline.com, resulting in total damages of 3.47 billion baht, averaging 111.98 million baht per day.

Requests for account freezes amounted to 13.54 billion baht, with 1.49 billion baht successfully frozen.

Deputy Government Spokesperson Karom Phonphonklang announced the top five types of online fraud reported.

Fraudulent sales of goods or services from non-organized crime caused 149.78 million baht in damages. Fraudulent job offers resulted in 689.42 million baht in damages. Loan scams led to damages of 142.21 million baht. Investment fraud via computer systems caused 1.29 billion baht in damages. Fraudulent prize or purpose transfers resulted in damages of 257.67 million baht.

Karom urged the public to be cautious of various fraud schemes and to report any incidents via thaipoliceonline.com or by calling the hotline 1441 or the telephone number 081-866-3000.
