Technician Dies in Elevator Accident at Suvarnabhumi Airport: No Equipment Malfunctions Reported

At 1:25 PM on August 13th, 2024, Suvarnabhumi Airport’s Security Center reported a fatal accident involving a technician from a contractor responsible for elevator maintenance at the airport.

The incident occurred while the technician was inspecting an elevator near the airline office area in Concourse A, Level 1, outside the passenger terminal.

The deceased, publicly identified only as Mr. Wisesrat, was performing routine maintenance on the elevator when the accident happened. Preliminary investigations suggested that the accident resulted from the technician not following safety procedures and not from a malfunction.

Suvarnabhumi Airport has coordinated with medical personnel and relevant agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into the cause of death. The area was temporarily cordoned off for further examination.

The airport ordered a comprehensive review of all workplace safety measures to prevent similar incidents in the future. Suvarnabhumi officials later confirmed that the accident was not due to any malfunction of the elevator itself.

The airport expressed condolences to the victim’s family and pledged full cooperation in any investigation.
