National —

On August 15th, 2024, a royal decree officially removed Pol. Gen. Surachate Hakparn, also known as “Big Joke,” from his position as Deputy National Police Chief, effective from April 18th, 2024.

The decision follows an earlier order by the Royal Thai Police, which suspended Surachate from duty due to allegations of serious disciplinary violations.

An investigation was launched, leading to a request for his removal under Sections 140 and 179 of the National Police Act of 2004. The decree was countersigned by Acting Deputy Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai.
