National —

At 5:00 PM on August 25th, 2024, Ms. Kornrawee Sitthichivapak, the Director-General of the Meteorological Department, issued a warning about heavy to very heavy rainfall across Thailand and strong winds in the upper Andaman Sea from August 26-28.

From August 26-28, Thailand is expected to experience increased rainfall with heavy downpours in some areas, particularly in the upper North, upper Northeast, East, and West Coast of the South.
Residents in these regions are advised to be cautious of flash floods and runoff, especially in hilly areas and lowlands.

The monsoon trough will shift across the North, Northeast, and upper Central regions, with a stronger southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand. Additionally, a low-pressure area over northern Laos will move through the upper North and Myanmar.
During August 27-29, waves in the upper Andaman Sea are expected to reach 2-3 meters, with stormy areas seeing waves over 3 meters. The upper Gulf of Thailand will have waves around 2 meters, and the lower Andaman Sea will see waves between 1-2 meters, with stormy areas reaching over 2 meters.

Mariners in these areas should proceed with caution and avoid sailing in stormy regions, while small boats in the upper Andaman Sea are advised to stay ashore during this period.
