North Bangkok Poll Reveals Strong Support for Thaksin’s Vision for Thailand 2024

On August 27th, 2024, Dr. Sanit Sirivisitkul, the Head of the “North Bangkok Poll” Opinion Survey Center, revealed the results of a public survey regarding the economic recovery proposals of former PM Thaksin Shinawatra.

The survey, conducted by North Bangkok University between August 24-25, 2024, involved 1,320 participants from across the country.
The findings show that 66.5% of respondents agree with Thaksin’s economic recovery plan, while 19.4% disagree, and 14.1% chose not to comment. Thaksin’s “Vision for Thailand 2024” includes 14 key proposals. The most popular ideas among respondents are:

  1. Digital Wallet Policy (15.3%)
  2. Tax Structure Reform (11%)
  3. Drug Problem Reduction through Decreased Usage (10.2%)
  4. 20-Baht Flat Fare for Electric Trains (8.7%)
  5. Promoting Man-made Tourist Attractions (8.1%)
  6. Bringing the Informal Economy Above Ground (7.6%)
  7. Household Debt Resolution (6.9%)
  8. Expansion of the Vayupak Fund, a state investment fund in Thailand, established to support the local stock market (6.1%)
  9. Resolving Overlapping Territorial Claims (5.4%)
  10. Establishing an Electric Train Manufacturing Hub (5.4%)
  11. Land Reclamation in Bang Khun Thian, Bangkok (4.8%)
  12. Positioning Thailand as a Safe Haven for Investors (4.5%)
  13. Developing a Muay Thai League to Boost Soft Power (3.7%)
  14. Lifting Restrictions on Foreign Land Ownership (2.3%)
