UPDATE: Spanish Man Sentenced to Life in Prison for Murdering Columbian Surgeon on Pha Ngan Island

A Spanish influencer, chef, and son of a famous Spanish movie star, has been sentenced to life in prison after he murdered and dismembered a Columbian surgeon on the Pha Ngan Island in Surat Thani last year.

The forensic team has confirmed that the body parts found at a landfill on Thailand’s southern tourist island of Pha Ngan, Surat Thani, belong to a Colombian man believed to have been murdered by his Spanish lover.

Public prosecutors filed a lawsuit against the defendant Mr. Daniel over intent to murder and moving or destroying bodies or parts of a body to conceal a death. The Koh Samui Provincial Court has postponed the hearing to November 13th of next month.

On Thursday, August 29th, the Samui Provincial Court delivered its verdict in the case involving Mr. Daniel Jeronimo Sancho Bronchalo, a 30-year-old individual. The court found him guilty of intentional murder and the subsequent dismemberment of Mr. Edwin Miguel Arrieta Arteaga, a 44-year-old Colombian surgeon.

Initially, Mr. Sancho Bronchalo had been sentenced to death. However, during the course of the investigation and the subsequent court proceedings, he demonstrated cooperation and other mitigating factors. As a result, the court decided to commute his sentence from death to life imprisonment.

During the sentencing hearing, Mr. Sancho Bronchalo’s parents were present in the courtroom, witnessing the legal proceedings that would significantly impact their son’s future.
