Bhumjaithai Party Advocates for Full Cannabis Legalization in Thai Coalition Policies

At 5:30 PM on September 2nd, 2024, Chaichanok Chidchob, the Bhumjaithai Party Secretary-General, and the party’s executive committee held a press conference to announce their stance on six key policies.

Chaichanok revealed that Bhumjaithai, as part of the coalition government, intends to present six major policies to the Pheu Thai Party. These include:

  1. Social order and public safety measures, focusing on protecting youth from drug trafficking, regulating entertainment venues and illegal gambling, and modernizing relevant laws.
  2. Increased financial decentralization, allowing local communities more control over tax revenues for local development.
  3. Equal access to education at all levels, incorporating modern technology to enhance learning, reduce costs, and elevate educational standards.
  4. Expansion and improvement of clean water systems nationwide, aiming to ensure public health and reduce household expenses on drinkable tap water.
  5. Support for household solar power systems, enabling citizens to generate and sell excess electricity back to the state.
  6. Promotion of research and development in Thai herbal products, including cannabis for medical and economic purposes, with strict legal control.

The party’s resolution will be formally submitted to the Pheu Thai Party leader, the head of the government coalition, on September 3rd.
