On September 12th, 2024, the Thai Meteorological Department issued a warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall and strong winds across Thailand, affecting multiple regions from September 13-17.
Intense rain is forecasted for the Northeast, Central, Eastern, and Western Southern regions, with localized downpours increasing the risk of flash floods and landslides, particularly in mountainous areas and low-lying regions near watercourses.
This weather pattern is driven by the southwest monsoon, which will strengthen during this period.
Waves in the Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf of Thailand are expected to rise to 2-3 meters, with thunderstorms causing waves to exceed 3 meters. In the lower Gulf, waves will reach around 2 meters.
The department advises small boats to stay ashore, and all vessels should avoid areas with thunderstorms due to dangerous sea conditions.
