Chiang Rai —
On September 12th, 2024, Thai national media reported that Thai Marine Police and Thai Highway Police were ordered to urgently assist flood victims in Mae Sai District, Chiang Rai, by both land and water.
The Marine Police deployed officers from three stations in Chiang Rai, using flat-bottomed boats and wading through floodwaters to reach those in hard-to-access areas in need of immediate help.
Many elderly, women, and children reportedly remained stranded in their homes, lacking food, drinking water, and medical supplies. In some areas, strong currents made boat rescues impossible, so trained officers had to wade through the floodwaters to deliver aid and evacuate victims.
Some victims were refusing to evacuate, causing complications.
Throughout the operation, all officers were carefully monitoring the situation to ensure the safety of both the public and the rescue teams, providing effective and rapid assistance to those affected.
