On September 26th, 2024, Thai VietJet Air issued a statement addressing a bomb threat made on flight VZ961, which was carrying 121 passengers from Da Nang, Vietnam, to Suvarnabhumi Airport, Bangkok.
The incident began when a foreign passenger alerted the flight crew, claiming there was an explosive device onboard. The crew immediately followed safety protocols and notified security authorities at the destination airport.
After the flight safely landed, the plane was directed to a secure area designated by the airport, where passengers and their luggage underwent thorough inspections.
Following the investigation, authorities confirmed that no explosives were found. The passenger who made the claim did not intend to carry out an attack and had simply used prohibited language during the flight.
Thai VietJet Air opted not to pursue legal action against the passenger, who was scheduled to leave the country and return to Poland.
Thai VietJet Air emphasized that despite the incident, all other flights continue to operate as scheduled, with the airline maintaining its highest safety standards for both passengers and staff.
