At Least 25 People Die, Many Young Students, After School Field Trip Bus Fire in Pathum Thani

At least 25 people have died, many young students, after a school field trip bus caught fire in Lumlukka on Tuesday (October 1st).

Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Suriya Juangroongruangkit arrived at the scene after the accident on the Phahonyothin Road near Zeer Rangsit. He told TPN media that the school field trip bus was from a school in Uthai Thani in northeastern Thailand.

There were 44 people on the bus. Six of them were teachers and 38 young students. As of press time, twenty-five of them were found deceased inside the bus which were three teachers and 22 students. Six teachers and 16 students were rescued but have been injured from various burn wounds. It was unclear as of press time about the others involved.

Initial reports state that many of the students were kindergartners and as a result very young. The Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra has reportedly canceled all activities planned for today and is intending to visit the survivors and families.
