The Thai Subcommittee on Sports Industry Development, in collaboration with the Boxing Sports Commission, hosted the “Amazing Muay Thai Master Class Global Tour 2024” in Paris from October 3rd to 6th, 2024, marking the fifth stop on the tour after visiting the UK, Australia, Canada, and the US.
The event reportedly drew over 300 attendees, including Muay Thai enthusiasts, who enjoyed a packed program featuring a Muay Thai Fashion Show and a cultural performance. A special highlight was the presentation of the VTR “Thailand Kick & Travel – Rusameekae,” showcasing Muay Thai’s connection with Thai culture and tourism.
Participants were treated to a live demonstration of the traditional Wai Khru, followed by the certification of local gyms that met the stringent standards of the Standard Muaythai Gym (SMG) inspection.
Three Muay Thai superstars—Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong, Nong-O Gaiyanghadao, and Yodsanklai Fairtex—delivered a Muay Thai clinic, where they taught “The Art of Eight Limbs.”
H.E. Mr. Sarun Charoensuwan, the Ambassador of Thailand to France, expressed his pride in the overwhelming turnout, with over 300 people of all ages signing up for training sessions.
He emphasized that Muay Thai is already popular in France, but bringing authentic training from Thailand will deepen understanding and further grow the sport’s appeal. The Ambassador also announced plans to establish a Muay Thai training center at Wat Chetupon Paris to promote the sport beyond the city and strengthen cultural ties between Thailand and France.
Looking ahead to 2025, which marks 340 years of relations between the two countries, and 170 years of diplomatic ties the following year, Ambassador Sarun believes this and other cultural activities, including Muay Thai, will enhance France’s appreciation for Thailand and attract more tourists to experience its culture and cuisine.
