Pheu Thai Confident in Legal Defense Amid Election Commissions Investigation into Partys Dissolution

National —

On October 20th, 2024, Mr. Anusorn Iamsa-ard, a Pheu Thai list MP, responded to the Election Commission of Thailand’s (ECT) decision to form a committee to investigate claims for dissolution against Pheu Thai and six former coalition parties.

The inquiry follows accusations that former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra exerted influence over Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra and the Pheu Thai Party’s decisions.

Anusorn stated that Pheu Thai is not worried, noting that the formation of the investigation committee is a routine step in the process.
He highlighted the importance of thoroughly reviewing the evidence and legal framework, which could take several months. He further expressed confidence in Pheu Thai’s legal team, asserting that both the government’s legislative and administrative functions will continue without disruption.

Despite the ongoing probe, the party remains focused on solving national issues for the people, remarked Anusorn.
