Bangkok —
At 6:30 PM on November 6th, 2024, Samsen police officers were alerted to a construction accident in Bangkok’s Dusit District where a metal frame had collapsed, injuring six workers at a condominium site.
Upon arrival, authorities found a dust barrier frame had fallen from the sixth floor, approximately 18 meters up, impacting workers below.
Among the injured, one worker reportedly suffered severe trauma after being impaled in the chest by a metal rod, requiring over 40 minutes for responders to free him with cutting tools. He was then rushed to a nearby hospital. Three other workers were critically injured, and two had minor injuries.
According to Mr. Tasanai, no last name was released, the assistant safety manager, the collapse was due to the dust barrier detaching, not a crane or scaffolding failure. A new construction crew was working at the site for the first time, which may have led to miscommunication.
The construction has been temporarily halted as the Dusit District Office and emergency authorities investigate. The company has confirmed that all injured workers have been provided medical assistance at a nearby hospital.
The workers were not identified by name.
