On November 7th, 2024, Thai immigration officials, alongside over 440 officers from related agencies, conducted a large-scale crackdown across 25 provinces, focusing on construction worker camps with high concentrations of foreign residents.
Immigration Division 3 led the operation, deploying more than 250 of their officers and coordinating with 190 local officials to inspect 30 targeted sites.
In Samut Prakan, authorities found over 2,000 foreign nationals living in designated areas. Out of these, 287 individuals were charged with immigration offenses, including 161 Myanmar nationals, 75 Cambodians, 2 Laotians, and 49 Thais.
Violations included 193 cases of illegal entry, 17 cases of overstaying visas, 7 cases of working without proper permits, and 67 cases of failing to report their residence to authorities. Additionally, 5 individuals faced other charges under immigration law.
According to the officers, employers who hired undocumented workers were fined a total of more than 250,000 baht. The detained foreign nationals have been handed over to police for further legal proceedings, as officials intensify their efforts to enforce immigration laws nationwide.
