Two Myanmar Nationals Caught Running Unhygienic Ice Cream Business in Bangkok After Viral Video

Bangkok —

On November 6th, 2024, Bangkok immigration officers arrested two Myanmar nationals in Bang Khun Thian, Bangkok, for illegally producing and selling unhygienic ice cream. The operation came to light after a video showing the pair making ice cream went viral on social media.

Acting on the video, the Thonburi task force investigated a rowhouse in Soi Bang Kradi and found the two individuals actively preparing ice cream with basic ingredients, including fresh coconut milk, condensed milk, tapioca starch, and salt, which they mixed and packed in large containers to sell in nearby areas.

During the inspection, officials from Immigration Bureau found various ice cream-making tools and supplies.

Upon verifying their documents, one of the individuals was found to have overstayed their visa, while neither had a valid work permit for the business.

Both were charged with immigration and labor law violations, informed of their rights, and transferred to Samae Dam Police Station for further processing.
