Indian Tourist Dies after Falling from Waterfall on Samui Island

Surat Thani –

An Indian tourist was found dead on Sunday (November 10th) after falling from a waterfall on Samui Island on Saturday (November 9th).

The Koh Samui Police told the Phuket Express that at 2:30 P.M. on Saturday (November 9th) they were notified that the 28 year-old male Indian tourist fell from the Na Muang Waterfall 2 in the afternoon.

Strong currents carried him down the waterfall and into a river. A search was launched until Sunday afternoon (November 10th) when he was tragically found dead.

The victim’s unidentified female friend told police that the victim had walked up higher on the waterfall to get a nice view and take a photo. She tried to warn him to stop but he did not listen.

He accidentally slipped, said the witness, and authorities told TPN Media that there are warning signs in many languages to warn visitors to be more careful when it is raining and slippery.

The name of the victim was withheld pending notification to his family and embassy.
