On November 11th, 2024, the Ministry of Transport announced that the Department of Highways will waive toll fees on key motorway routes during the New Year holiday to alleviate traffic and reduce travel costs.

This exemption will be in effect for eight days, from 12:01 AM on December 26th, 2024, until midnight on January 2nd, 2025.

The toll-free period will cover two major routes:

Motorway Route 7 (Bangkok–Chonburi–Pattaya) and Motorway Route 9 (Bangkok Outer Ring Road).

The toll-free routes include specific segments for greater convenience to travelers:

Motorway Route 7: From Bangkok to Pattaya, covering sections from Bangkok to Laem Chabang Port, as well as interchanges at Bang Wua, Chonburi, Laem Chabang, and Pattaya. The route extends through to Ban Chang, connecting with Highway 3 at Ban Amphoe.

Motorway Route 9: Sections from Phra Pradaeng to Bang Khae, and from Bang Pa-in to Bang Phli.

According to the Ministry of Transport, this initiative aims to support millions of Thais traveling home for the holiday season, improving traffic flow and offering cost relief on routes in and out of Bangkok and neighboring provinces.
