On November 14th, 2024, Thailand was officially recognized as the “Destination of the Year 2025” by renowned travel magazine Travel + Leisure.
This prestigious title, awarded through a global tourist survey, highlights Thailand’s appeal for its natural beauty, rich cultural experiences, and warm hospitality.
Popular sites such as Phang Nga Bay and Thailand’s elephant conservation efforts were noted, while Bangkok stood out for its vibrant culture, world-class cuisine, and welcoming LGBTQ+ environment.
Thailand’s tourism potential continues to be recognized, with recent awards also including Samui as “Best Island in Asia Pacific,” Samui Airport among the top four airports, and Bangkok as the “Best City in Asia Pacific” in the Travel + Leisure Luxury Awards Asia Pacific 2024.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) aims to reach a tourism revenue target of 3.4 trillion baht in 2025, aligning with government initiatives.
As part of this goal, TAT, in partnership with Central Pattana, is launching The World’s Great Celebration 2025, running from November 5th, 2024, to January 5th, 2025, at Central World in Bangkok. The festivities include the Light Up Christmas Tree 2025, a grand opening ceremony with holiday displays.
In addition, the VIJIT CHAO PHRAYA 2024 light show will take place along the Chao Phraya River, featuring illuminated art installations, projection mapping, laser shows, drone performances, and cultural displays.
This event will showcase the beauty of Thai culture through immersive visuals and performances in key riverfront areas, creating a festive and memorable holiday season for both tourists and locals.
