Nakhon Pathom —
At 11:50 PM on November 19th, 2024, Bang Len police were alerted to a fatal accident involving a pickup truck driver that lost control, struck a utility pole, and plunged into a roadside canal, on the Bang Len-Don Tum Road, Nakhon Pathom.
At the scene, the severely damaged pickup truck was found submerged in the canal, with a broken high-voltage pole nearby. Seven people were reportedly confirmed dead—five bodies scattered in the water and two trapped inside the vehicle.
Rescue teams used hydraulic tools to retrieve the deceased. Items found near the crash site, including fertilizer sacks, clothing, and plastic containers, suggested the group was traveling for work. Identification cards revealed all the victims were Myanmar nationals, according to the police.
Initial investigations indicated the truck had fled from police about 6–7 kilometers away after acting suspiciously near a convenience store.
The high-speed chase ended when the vehicle’s driver likely lost control on a bridge and failed to navigate a curve, crashing into a guardrail and utility pole before plunging into the canal.
Initially, local authorities are examining the truck’s registration, which belongs to a Myanmar national, and reviewing CCTV footage to determine the exact cause. Further legal proceedings are underway.
