Landlords Fury Over Unpaid Debt Leaves Four Dead in Samut Prakan

Samut Prakan —

At 8:30 PM on November 25th, 2024, Samut Prakan police were alerted to a fatal shooting in Bang Pu Municipal Soi. The incident occurred at a single-story rental home and left four family members dead and one child critically injured.

The victims included Wasana, 45, who was found seated on a marble bench with gunshot wounds to the stomach, chest, and back.

His wife, Rattapak, 43, suffered multiple gunshot wounds to her chest, thigh, and arm, and her mother, Thongsiri, 69, was shot in the back and chest near the house entrance.

Their seven-year-old daughter sustained gunshot wounds to her chest, back, and arm and was rushed to Samut Prakan Hospital in critical condition.

The shooter, 64-year-old landlord Pisit, reportedly confronted the family over an unpaid loan. Armed with a licensed 9mm pistol, he opened fire, killing the family before turning the weapon on himself. He was taken to the hospital but later died from his injuries, according to the police.

Investigators recovered 13 spent shell casings, an empty magazine, and four remaining bullets in the gun.

Neighbors reportedly heard heated arguments between Pisit and the family moments before gunfire erupted. Unidentified witnesses reported seeing Pisit shoot himself after the attack. A bystander helped the injured child and alerted authorities.

According to Suphaset, a 19-year-old son of the family, Pisit had previously argued with the family over a loan. Police suspect the violence was fueled by financial disputes.

His background revealed no prior criminal history, and the firearm used in the shooting was legally registered. The investigation continues to determine if other factors contributed to the tragedy.
