Samut Sakhon —
On November 27th, 2024, Samut Sakhon Highway Police, alongside related agencies, arrested two suspects and seized 5.4 million methamphetamine pills in the Muang District.
Pol. Lt. Gen. Jiraphop Phuridech, the Central Investigation Bureau Commissioner, reported that in the first case, officers apprehended 46-year-old Witaya with 5 million meth pills worth 150 million baht along Rama II Road in Samut Sakhon.
The arrest followed an earlier drug bust in September involving 13 million meth pills in Prachuap Khiri Khan, which revealed a large, well-organized network. Investigations led to Witaya, who was tasked with driving after the initial suspects were caught.
Witaya reportedly admitted to transporting drugs six times since October, earning 150,000 to 200,000 baht per trip depending on the load. He reportedly delivered the drugs to networks in southern Thailand. Authorities transferred him to the Crime Suppression Division for legal proceedings.
In the second case, Udon Thani Highway Police arrested 47-year-old Apichat with 400,000 meth pills along the Sum Sao-Ban Dung Road.
Acting on a tip-off, officers intercepted Apichat’s vehicle, which lacked license plates. Apichat reportedly attempted to flee but lost control of his vehicle, which overturned in the Ban Dung District. Authorities found the drugs in the vehicle and detained him for further investigation.
