On December 4th, 2024, Dr. Kerati Kijmanawat, the President of Airports of Thailand (AOT), proudly received the Prix Versailles 2024 award for Suvarnabhumi Airport’s Midfield Satellite 1 (SAT-1) at UNESCO headquarters in Paris, France.
Recognized for its outstanding exterior architecture, SAT-1 was named the “World’s Most Beautiful Airport” by the Prix Versailles Selection Committee in collaboration with UNESCO.
SAT-1’s design intricately weaves Thai cultural identity into its architecture, greeting travelers with a mix of traditional art and modern innovation. The interior showcases Thai-inspired motifs, blending history and local lifestyle with contemporary structure.
Additionally, the building emphasizes sustainable design with eco-friendly materials, energy-efficient features, and extensive use of natural light, supporting AOT’s commitment to green airport initiatives.
Dr. Kerati remarked that this global recognition reflects the pride of the Thai people and AOT’s efforts to elevate Thailand’s aviation industry. He emphasized the award as a testament to AOT’s mission to enhance passenger experiences and solidify Suvarnabhumi’s status as a key aviation hub in the region.
“We will continue to uphold these standards, ensuring every journey through Suvarnabhumi is memorable while strengthening Thailand’s positive global image,” he added.
