Heavy Rains and Flash Flood Warnings Issued for Southern Thai Provinces

National —

On December 5th, 2024, the Thai Meteorological Department issued a 7-day weather forecast with significant variations expected nationwide.

From December 5th-6th, a weakening high-pressure system will maintain cool mornings with light fog in northern Thailand, while a low-pressure system over the Strait of Malacca is likely to bring heavy rainfall to southern provinces, increasing the risk of flash floods, runoff, and river overflows, especially in low-lying and foothill areas.

From December 7th-11th, a new moderate cold front from China will bring initial rain and lower temperatures in the North, Northeast, Central, and East regions by 1-4°C, accompanied by strong winds.

The Gulf of Thailand and Andaman Sea will see moderate conditions, with waves up to 2 meters and even higher in stormy areas.

Southern residents should brace for potential flooding, while northern residents are advised to drive carefully in foggy conditions. Farmers nationwide are urged to protect crops from potential weather damage.
