Seven suspects, including several foreign nationals, were arrested in Thailand for producing and distributing explicit content online.

On December 9th, the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) ordered the Anti-Human Trafficking Division (AHTD) to apprehend seven suspects who were allegedly involved in producing and distributing pornographic content on the internet. The arrests were carried out by a team led by Pol. Lt. Col. Kiatkong Thongkham, Deputy Commander of AHTD Division 2. The suspects were identified by authorities as follows:

Mr. Benjamin (40, British) was arrested at Suvarnabhumi Airport, reportedly trying to leave the country after getting notification of the impending crackdown. He allegedly created content involving Thai women, whom he took in tuk-tuks to film explicit content in various tourist spots. The content was then shared on Mr. Benjamin’s platform, which has over 140,000 followers.

Mr. Volker (48, German) was detained at his residence in Pattaya. He allegedly produced sexual content involving foreign nationals and Thai transgender individuals before sharing it on OnlyFans, where he had over 150,000 followers.

Mr. Zvezdan (32, Serbian) was apprehended at a condominium in Pattaya. He reportedly collaborated with Thai sex content creators to produce explicit content, shared on platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, and OnlyFans, which have more than 200,000 followers in total.

Mr. Andrei (34, Russian) was arrested in Bangkok. He is accused of creating a group for explicit content involving Thai nationals and collaborating with a well-known Thai sex creator with over 600,000 followers.

Mr. Thanasin (30, Thai) was detained in Bangkok for producing content involving male partners, promoting it publicly, and directing viewers to private paid groups.

Mr. Sangthian (26, Thai) was arrested in Bangkok for similar offenses, including producing and distributing explicit videos in private paid groups.

Lastly, Ms. Rattana (36, Thai) was apprehended in Pattaya. She reportedly advertised and distributed explicit content on OnlyFans and private messaging groups, with over 200,000 followers.

The suspects face charges under Section 287 of the Thai Penal Code for producing and distributing obscene materials, and Section 14(4) of the Computer Crime Act for uploading obscene content to the internet. In Thailand, notes TPN media, creating and publishing adult content or adult films, even on private platforms like OnlyFans, is illegal and considered obscene content.

Pol. Lt. Col. Kiatkong said the arrests align with the Royal Thai Police’s directive to combat transnational crimes, including the exploitation of Thailand as a base for producing and distributing pornographic content. He stressed that these actions tarnish Thailand’s image and are linked to serious issues such as human trafficking.

The operation was named “Operation Rabbit Hunt: Cracking Down on Sex Creators.” Pol. Lt. Col. Kiatkong also revealed officers found child sexual abuse material in the possession of one suspect.

Initially, Mr. Benjamin reportedly admitted to filming the content but claimed it was uploaded by his associate abroad. Meanwhile, Mr. Volker, Mr. Zvezdan, and Mr. Andrei denied all allegations and proclaimed innocence. Mr. Thanasin, Mr. Sangthian, and Ms. Rattana reportedly confessed to the charges. Authorities are continuing their investigation to identify victims and additional suspects.
