Prachinburi —
At 2:00 PM on December 10th, 2024, Prachinburi police responded to two related shootings that left three people dead and four injured in Mueang District. The violence unfolded across two locations—a house and a nearby restaurant.
At the first scene, police found a man shot dead inside a house and another injured in the torso, who was rushed to a local hospital. Less than five minutes later, reports emerged of a second attack at a grilled chicken restaurant two kilometers away.
There, the gunman, publicly identified only as Mr. Surath, 38, was discovered dead with stab wounds and his hands and feet bound.
Preliminary investigations revealed Surath entered the house armed, killing his uncle, Chan, over an alleged long-standing family dispute related to inheritance. He also shot and injured others, including Chan’s nephew Kritsada, who later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
CCTV footage captured Surath calmly leaving the first scene before heading to the second location, where family members fought back, ultimately killing him with a meat cleaver.
Initially, Prachinburi police confirmed Surath had a violent criminal history and was recently released from prison. Investigators are exploring motives, including family conflicts, drug involvement, and mental health issues, as they piece together the events behind the tragic rampage.
