Loei —
On December 13th, 2024, Sri Song Rak Camp rangers in Loei announced the interception of a major drug smuggling involving 200 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine.
The operation followed a December 11th tip-off about narcotics being smuggled from Laos into Ban Huai Pao, Pak Chom. Rangers reportedly deployed a rapid-response team to patrol the area, where they spotted two suspiciously modified pickup trucks with concealed compartments. After setting up a checkpoint, officers stopped the vehicles and detained the occupants.
A thorough search of the vehicles revealed six large sacks containing crystal meth, estimated to weigh 200 kilograms. Four suspects exhibited suspicious behavior during the stop, prompting the search and subsequent arrests.
The names of the suspects were withheld by the police.
The confiscated drugs, along with the vehicles, were handed over to Pak Chom Police Station for further investigation and to trace the smuggling network.
According to the authorities, since October 1st, anti-drug operations along Loei’s border districts have resulted in 666 arrests and the seizure of significant narcotics, including over 56 million methamphetamine pills.
