National —

On December 15th, 2024, Jiraporn Sindhuprai, the Minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office, announced that Thai PM Paetongtarn Shinawatra secured the 29th spot on Forbes’ list of the Top 100 Most Powerful Women in the World for 2024.

The ranking also places her as the third most influential woman in Asia, further highlighting her remarkable leadership on the global stage.

Minister Jiraporn emphasized the significance of international recognition for Thailand’s youngest prime minister, who has excelled in managing national crises.

Notably, Paetongtarn swiftly responded to widespread floods and a tragic school bus fire incident, directing relevant agencies to act promptly.

In her first 90 days in office, she has implemented impactful policies such as a three-year debt moratorium for farmers, visa-free travel to boost tourism, and a 10,000-baht digital wallet scheme to stimulate the economy.

Key initiatives also include free cervical cancer vaccines for women, equitable marriage legislation, expanded access to universal healthcare, and addressing statelessness among ethnic groups.

Previously, Paetongtarn was recognized in Time magazine’s “Time 100 Next” under the Leaders category, which celebrates emerging global leaders. She has also topped the Suan Dusit Poll as Thailand’s most prominent politician, showcasing her widespread appeal and influence both domestically and internationally.
