National —
On December 16th, 2024, the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) dismissed allegations against former Thai PM Srettha Thavisin and the Police Commission, ruling that the appointment of Pol. Gen. Torsak Sukvimol as National Police Chief followed legal procedures.
Mr. Saroj Phuengramphan, the NACC spokesperson, announced that the commission found no evidence of misconduct or undue influence in the appointment. The decision came after a thorough review of the selection process.
While the complaint argued that the selection ignored seniority and experience, the NACC clarified that the law requires consideration of seniority alongside qualifications, not strict adherence to it.
The NACC concluded that Pol. Gen. Torsak met all necessary qualifications, and the process involved thorough discussions among commission members. With no evidence of corruption, the complaint was dismissed under Section 49 of the Anti-Corruption Act 2018.
