On December 18th, 2024, GDH announced that ‘How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies’ made history as the first Thai film shortlisted for the 97th Academy Awards in the Best International Feature Film category.
It was selected among 85 international entries and is now one of 15 films competing for a spot in the final five, which will be revealed on January 17th, 2025. The winners will be announced on March 2nd, 2025.
The studio extended congratulations to director Pat Boonnitipat, screenwriter Ped Thodsapon, producers Jira Maligool and Vanridee Pongsittisak, lead actors Usha “Taew” Seamkhum, Putthipong “Billkin” Assaratanakul, as well as the entire cast and crew. GDH also thanked fans for their support of Grandma.

Thailand has submitted films for the Best International Feature Film category since 1984, with notable entries including The Story of Nampoo, The Overture, Transistor Love Story, The Love of Siam, Teacher’s Diary, and Krasue: Inhuman Kiss.

‘How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies’ is not only this year’s submission but also the first Thai film to reach the final 15.
