Thailand to Enter a Cold Snap with Foggy Mornings from December 21-26

National —

The Thai Meteorological Department predicted a drop in temperatures across Thailand from December 21st to 26th, as a high-pressure system from China spreads over the upper regions.

Temperatures are expected to fall by 1-2°C on December 21st and 23rd. The North and Northeast will experience cold to chilly conditions, while the Central, Bangkok, Eastern, and upper Southern regions will have cooler mornings.

The high-pressure system will weaken from December 24th to 26th, slightly raising temperatures. Despite the rise, mornings will remain cool with light fog, and isolated rain is anticipated in the Northeast, Central, Eastern regions, and Bangkok.

In the South, the moderate northeast monsoon will bring occasional thunderstorms and 2-meter-high waves in the lower Gulf of Thailand, with even higher waves in storm-affected areas.

Authorities advise residents in upper Thailand to prepare for cooler weather and protect against fire risks due to dry, windy conditions. Coastal communities in the South are urged to exercise caution with marine activities.
